"So what did you call us here for anyway, Drax?" The alien asked. There were three of them, red, green and blue. All humanoid, all male, and the same height, but all very different. The green one, that had spoken, was hairless, and almost reptilian. His body was covered with something that was somewhere between scales and skin, and he was completely hairless. He was lithe and slim, wearing skin-hugging black material over most of his body, from which a whip-like tail poked.

The red one, Drax, was different. He had much larger muscles than the other two, and had two small red antennas poking out from under its medium-length black hair. Of the group, he was the most humanlike, despite the vivid red colour of his skin. He wore the same black material as the green one, though only as shorts over his groin.

The blue one was the quiet one. He differed the most from the other two. He had an exoskeleton as the only thing covering his body; a natural, very powerful armour. He had an extra pair of arms, too. Nobody could ever tell what this one was thinking. He was quiet, dangerous, intimidating.

"Well," Drax said, drawing out a pause, relishing being in control. "Have you two ever wanted the perfect mate?"

"Of course." The green one, Tch'key'an said, folding his arms. "But we'll probably never get her. Perfection does not exist."

Drax smiled, the smile of someone with a brilliant secret he wants to tell someone, anyone. "Well." He said, "What if I were to tell you we had a way of getting one. One each."

Tch'key'an smirked. "Go on then." He said. "Tell us your big idea."

Drax smiled again, holding up a device that a human might have called a needle. "I've programmed DNA of the perfect mate in for each of us."

Tch'key'an sighed. "You know that's illegal. We'd never get away with it. And besides, how do you know what type we like."

The red alien frowned. "Don't treat me like I'm stupid. Of course I thought of that stuff. I know you guys. I know what you like. And besides," He paused again, smiling. "The punishment for using one on an underdeveloped species is much less, and there's less chance of getting caught on a different planet." He smiled again, wider this time, showing his full set of flat teeth. "I know this place that's out of the way-just advanced enough to keep most people away, but not yet part of the Great Allience. I heard about it from my brother. He likes visiting there with his friends to scare the locals, flattening crops, appering to them, even abducting them sometimes." He turned to Garram, the blue one. "Come on, It'll be great! What do you say?"

Garram looked down as if in contemplation for a while, and then spoke. "Yeah." He said

"I guess I'll come too, then." Tch'key'an sighed. "I wouldn't want to waste all those hours of DNA programming you've done for me." He smiled. "Well, we should hurry up and get the next wormhole ship, then."

---

Dave, John and Billy were bored. Or, rather, Dave and Billy were bored. John had dragged them out in the middle of the night to look for spaceships from his rusty old car. Apparently, he'd checked the dates of the previous 'appearances' of the strange lights, and today was the day they'd be back.

"Come on..." Billy yawned. "It's already three in the morning. We're not going to see anything, let's just go back already!" Dave didn't say anything. He was probably asleep, knowing Dave. Or pretending to be asleep. Either way, he was sprawled over the back seats of the car.

"No, wait, I-I I think I see something!" John shouted. Billy looked over to where John was pointing with, and saw it.

"It's just a couple of lights in the sky. Could be anything." Billy rebuked.

"No." Said John, firmly. "I have to check this." He opened the car door, and started walking to the lights.

Billy groaned, and headed after him. He noticed Dave walking behind him, too. They fixed their eyes on the lights, and walked steadily towards them.

In a flash, a new light appeared, a spotlight from the sky where the lights were. John's gasp was easily audible.

---

"Wow, three. That's convenient." Tch'key'an sighed, flipping the tractor beam switch. He looked through the monitor. One was already under the beam. And there were another two. One looked like it was trying to pull the others away. Tch'key'an grinned, flipping another switch.

---

"Get away from there!" Billy shouted, pulling at John.

"Stop it!" John shouted back, gazing up at the source of the light. "I need to do this. I need to see if there are aliens!"

Dave was gazing up at the light in curiosity. He whistled through his teeth.

"Seriously, let's go!" Billy shouted again, but it was too late. The light engulfed them, and they lost conscious.

---

When Billy awoke, he was strapped to a table. He struggled against his bonds, but to no avail. Then he looked up, and saw the aliens. "Fuck..." He gasped, as he realised the truth. They were lined up in a row, strapped to the tables, which were tilted up from the ground, giving them a good view of the futuristic room they were in. Their clothes were gone, as well as John's glasses, replaced with the same odd material the aliens were wearing, stretched around their groins.

Next to him, John was stirring. "Oh my God..." He gasped. "Real aliens! And three different species! That must mean there are three inhabitable planets! And they're so humanlike! This is amazing!" Then a look of horror hit his face as he realised that he was strapped to a table, completely at the mercy of an alien. "On no... They're going to probe us, aren't they?"

---

"So are these female already, or are they male? I can't tell with these monkeys." Drax asked.

Tch'key'an laughed. "You know, you're their closest relatives. You, out of all of us, should be able to tell. But it doesn't matter anyway. The DNA modifier will make them female, even if they aren't already. "

Drax lifted the needle. "I get to go first, right? It was my idea."

Garram shrugged, and Tch'key'an said "Sure, you go first."

"Now, which one do I improve?" Drax asked, walking towards the humans.

---

The red muscled alien walked over to John with the needle in its hand. "Uh, that doesn't look much like a probe..." He muttered.

The alien stuck the needle into John's arms "Gah! That hurts!" He shouted, struggling against his restraints, but the alien wasn't done. It stuck the needle into John's other arm, his legs, his belly, and his neck. Then it stood back, and pressed the button on the top of the needle.

Nothing happened for a few seconds "Uh..." John started "What happens now?"

The alien looked agitated. It backed away from John, then said something in an angry voice that John couldn't understand.

And then the changes started. John's skin started to turn red, at first unnoticeable, but it quickly became obvious.

"Something's happening to you..." Billy gasped.

John's skin became red, then, all over. The alien's eyes brightened and it started hard at John. John's body started to ripple, stretching out and becoming more muscled than the nerdy teen had ever been before. He started to breath heavily-in shock, perhaps, or pain, and as he did, each time his chest expanded further outwards, inflating until there was a large pair of red, naked breasts on John's chest. The tightening of the black material around John's groin suggested that another change had happened there, besides the inflation of his butt.

"Oh God..." Billy gasped again. "You're a girl... An alien girl..." And you're sexy... he narrowly avoided saying. And then he gasped another time. What were they planning on doing to him?

John gasped too, but with a different pitch than usual "Whet..." She gasped, in an unfamiliar accent and voice. "Thire's samtheng wrang..."

Then smaller changes started to happen. Her hair grew, to a much longer length than it had been, and darkened to a deep red, almost black. Her eyes became a sparkling jade, and she blinked, able to see perfectly. She gasped that cute, high-pitched gasp again. Her nose shrunk, and faded away entirely, withdrawing to leave her with two nostrils in the centre of her face. Her lips puffed out, and her teeth flattened to those of an herbivore.

She blinked and lowered her head as two small antennas started to wriggle from her head. They grew without sound, and she opened her eyes again, looking up at her head like a cat fascinated by a toy. Finally, her nails grew out, long and black. She flexed her hands and feet, and gasped. She didn't trust her voice for anything but that.

The alien was by her now. The one like her. Male, she could tell now. She could tell because the new hormones rushing around her body told her that she should have sex with him. She blushed-a flush of blue came to her cheeks.

The alien unfastened her restraints and she slid to the floor, but quickly rose again. She looked at herself, realising her mouth was gaping open, but not caring. She inspected her new body, trailing her hands around the new curves and features. She was still very close to human, she noticed. Perhaps a 96% DNA similarity? She still had nipples, she noticed, clawing them gently. She fiddled with her antennas, too. They didn't seem to have much purpose. Dimly, she became aware that two people were talking in a language she didn't understand. Her friend, Billy. She couldn't tell what he was saying, as if he was speaking in a language she had known, but forgotten a long while ago. But at the same time, she couldn't understand what the male was saying. He seemed to be addressing her. She gasped again. She was doing that a lot now.

---

"Can you understand me? Nod if you can." Drax ordered, staring at the face of his perfect mate. She showed no reaction. He sighed.

Tch'key'an laughed. "Of course she can't understand. It's not like language is in our DNA. If this is all you've got, I think I'll pass on the 'perfect' mate who can't even talk."

Drax scowled. "I thought of that, too." He said, angrily, producing another device.

Tch'key'an looked at it. "You idiot, you should have used that before the transformation. Now it'll be a serious crime."

Drax laughed. "Relax! It's only a language modifier. I didn't have time to make anything fancy for changing personality. But I guess we could do that when we get back."

He pressed a button on the device, pointing it at the female, who was gaping at him. She frowned, and clutched at her head.

"Hello..." Drax said to her gently. "I'm Drax. I made you to be my perfect mate."

"Mate..." She muttered, a look of confusion on her beautiful face. She looked up at him, a smile dancing on her mouth. "Yes. I'll be your perfect mate."
Not part of my big project... Which I haven't even started...
Don't worry, there WILL be a part 2.

Plenty of fun so far. I'm hoping they never get around to a forced personality change, that would just make everything too simple. More fun to let the new, wide universe be just what they've become: alien. Changing them would diminish that revelation. Good old fashioned hormones seem to be doing the job well enough, and resisting one's own urges (from time to time) is a natural adventure of life anyway.
